The extension of the lockdown all over the country was announced yesterday by the government spokesman Stelios Petsas, who stated  that the goal of lifting the restrictions on December 7 is no longer possible.

Experts have expressed  their reservations about  gradual, opening of society and the market before  Christmas holidays.

In the meantime, bars and nightclubs will remain closed until the vaccine arrives in the country, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced yesterday, speaking at the World Leaders Forum. The opening of schools before  holidays remains doubtful, based on what the prime minister said.

The latest epidemiological data have caused concern as a high number of daily cases are recorded again in the country  while de-escalation was expected.

Thus, yesterday, Wednesday 2/12, EODY announced 2,186 new cases with the total number reaching 109,655.

613 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their median age is 65 years. 76.2% have an underlying disease or are aged 70 and over. Finally, there are 89 more recorded deaths and 2,606 deaths in total in the country.
