“Elefsina is a shining example of addressing contemporary challenges in an exemplary way,” said Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou, referring to the decision of Elefsina becoming European Capital of Culture 2021.

As she said, speaking on ERT, “From a degraded area it was transformed to a model city turning factories into cultural venues and at the same time acquiring a green profile”.

She emphasized the need to strengthen the multicultural diversity as proposed by UNESCO and stated that she is against “cultural monoculture.”
