Greek government and public agencies’ websites were cyber-attacked on Thursday night with many of them going offline for a while.

Websites affected by the cyber-attacks include Greek Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, Maritime Ministry, as well as the police and fire department. The DDoS attack was detected early and countermeasures were applied.

Government spokesman Stelios Petsas, said that shortly after, the websites were restored, with no further technical problems, after intensive efforts by teams trained to deal with such incidents.
