The efforts to find the missing persons and identify the people who died from the devastating fires in Attica are still in progress. At least 81 people have lost their lives and 60 people are hospitalized, 11 of them in intensive care. The exact number of people missing after the deadly fires is still unknown.
No information is officially given by the respective government bodies, while the spokesperson of the Fire Department, Stavroula Malliri, has stated that the calls regarding missing persons are dozens. “The process to identify the bodies through DNA tests is in progress; it is possible that some of the bodies found belong to missing persons, while some people might also have reunited with their families without having informed the authorities,” she explained.
