Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis, addressing the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the Parliament, said that there can be no effective national debt relief as things stand, due to European creditors being overburdened with debts themselves. He added that only if Greece arrives at a corresponding standard can all European countries work together to reach a national debt crisis resolution on a European scale.

Referring to proposals concerning the debt issue Deputy PM mentioned the possibility of a future constitutional provision that stipulates a debt limit.

He also raised the question of the current productivity model: “However sustainable the debt might be, if we persist in following the same productivity model, most probably, we will fall in debt again,” he said.
