The EastMed pipeline is a project of enormous geopolitical and geo-strategic importance, as it allocates natural gas resources to Europe and will carry natural gas from Eastern Mediterranean deposits to the European Natural Gas Energy System, via Cyprus, Greece and Italy. The pipeline’s construction budget amounts to 5.2 billion euros in its first operational form.

The benefits of the pipeline are particularly important for Greece and Cyprus, as it contributes to our country’s emergence as a European transit hub, facilitates economic growth and ensures the supply of natural gas to areas of Greece that do not have access to the National Grid, such as Crete, the Peloponnese and Western Greece.

According to information, the Greek, Cypriot and Israeli Energy Ministers also discussed the electrical interconnection between Crete, Cyprus and Israel.
