The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will visit the military outpost in Kastanies, at Evros.

Today’s visit follows the previous one the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made in the region on March 3 together with the heads of the European Union institutions (the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli).

During that visit, all sides had pointed out that Greece’s borders are also EU’s borders, that the protection of Greece’s borders also means the protection of EU’s borders and that is why European assistance and solidarity with our country is necessary.

Mr. Dendias’ talks with Mr. Borrell are expected to focus on Euro-Turkish relations, with an emphasis on the escalating Turkish delinquency against the EU, including the violation of Greece’s sovereign rights and the instrumentalization of the immigration issue.

In the afternoon, Mr. Borrell will meet with the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while he will also have talks with the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos.
