The preliminary draft budget for 2020 has been posted on the European Commission’s website, which envisage a primary surplus of 3.7% percent of GDP in 2019 and a surplus of 3.5% for 2020.

The preliminary draft of the new budget maintains the projection for a growth rate of 2.8% in 2020 and includes a € 1.2 billion package of measures to support the economy, stimulate revenue and contain costs.

On the Greek preliminary draft, Community sources commented that the institutions have already discussed the 2020 budget with the Greek authorities extensively to ensure that an agreed fiscal goal will be achieved and the draft budget published, fully reflect these discussions.
