Great European summer music festivals

From Monday 24th until Saturday 29th July 2017

The Third Program (Trito Programma), in cooperation with EBU, offers its listeners unique music moments from the top summer festivals across Europe.

Specifically, from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 July 2017, the Third Program listeners will have the opportunity to enjoy concerts of high artistic value, on the following days and times:

Monday, 24 July 2017, 21:00-23:00

The concert given on 18 July 2017 at the Proms London Film Festival.

The National Orchestra of Wales – BBC, conducted by Thomas Sondergard, perform the following opuses:

– Dmitri Shostakovich: “October, symphonic poem, Op. 131”
– Dmitri Shostakovich: “Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Opus 77”
Soloist: Nicola Benedetti (violin)
– Jean Sibelius: “Symphony No. 2, in D major, Op. 43”

Wednesday, 26 July 2017, from 21:00-22:00

The performance is produced by Viktor Derevianko for Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 15 in A major (Opus 141), a concert given on 2 July 2017 at the Wallonia Musical Festival in Belgium.

Performers: Shirly Laub (violin), Boyan Vodenitcharov (piano), Marie Hallynck (cello), Vassilena Serafimova, Alexandre Esperet, Titus Franken (percussion)

The concert given on 9 July 2017 at MDR Musiksommer in Germany is broadcast. In particular, the violinist Renaud Capuçon and the pianist Khatia Buniatishvili perform the following works:
