Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is leaving for Brussels today to participate at the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council, which will discuss developments in Iraq and Libya.

In a statement, the Greek Foreign Ministry condemns the attacks on military bases in Iraq, which host forces of the international coalition fighting against the Islamic State, including Greece.

The statement also notes that Greece is watching the escalation of the situation with particular concern and stresses the urgent need to scale back on the basis of dialogue and respect for international law.

In this context, the Foreign Ministry has indicated that Greece is ready to support any efforts in this direction.
