An impressive exhibition entitled “Hermitage, a Gateway to History” is opening at the Byzantine Museum on Wednesday, featuring exhibits from the famous museum of St. Petersburg.

“The exhibition highlights the encyclopedic spirit of the great Russian museum, presenting the Greek public with pieces of art from different cultural backgrounds” said Secretary of the Ministry for Culture and Sports Ms. Maria Andreadakis – Vlazakis during the press conference for the presentation of the exhibition, in the presence of the Director General of the Hermitage Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky.

The exhibition is divided into two main sections. The first consists of miniature objects and personal belongings of the Czars, and the second of art, especially painting, from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
