A farmer finds impressive archaeological findings in Atalanti, Fokida, while tilling his field. According to the Ministry of Culture press release, Saturday, the farmer found the limestone torso of a naked male statue in the type of kouros from the Archaic era and immediately notified the Archaeological Service.

In the wider area of ​​Atalanti in Fthiotida and during an excavation done by the Ephorate of Antiquities, four life-size limestone trunks of statues as well as a section of a triangular statue base have been found since the middle of October.

The Ministry of Culture also reports that a recent research conducted in merely a small part of the field, revealed deeper down, a large cemetery with seven graves that were being used from the 5th century B.C. through to the 2nd century B.C. bearing several remarkable findings.
