The exhibition titled “Gaia Memories: UNESCO Global Geoparks Greece-Cyprus” at the Eugenides Foundation, takes us on a fascinating journey to the beautiful areas of Greece and Cyprus recognized by UNESCO as World Geoparks. The aim of this exhibition which will run through May 12 2019, is for visitors to discover the natural and geological monuments and motivate them to visit these sites and participate in the various tourist and educational activities these places offer.

It includes fossil forests, dramatic canyons, gorges, waterfalls, caves, coasts and valleys and invites us to discover the history of our Earth and of the eastern Mediterranean region.

The exhibition is organized by the Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, in collaboration with UNESCO Global Geoparks Greece and Cyprus. The visit at the exhibition is enriched with scientific information designed and adapted for all ages.

The UNESCO World Geoparks are sites with world-class geological heritage, helping us to understand and address our current environmental problems within the dynamic planet we live in, and to highlight all aspects of our natural and cultural heritage. It is the newest category of sites recognized by UNESCO.
