The Greek Prime Minister is attending today the new Greek-Cypriot-Israel summit in Jerusalem. Alexis Tsipras, Nikos Anastasiades, Benjamin Netanyahu, together with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who will also attend the summit, will discuss the developments in Eastern Mediterranean and the possibilities of cooperation in the fields of energy, security and defense, economy and migration.
The Greek Prime Minister will note that the safe transfer of energy resources to the EU, through the multiplication of sources and channels, is one of the main axes of our foreign policy.
In this context, the signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement to promote the East-Med gas pipeline is expected to be announced shortly.
As the government points out, this meeting highlights the US support for the tripartite co-operation between Greece, Cyprus and Israel and marks the reinforced role of the three countries in security and energy developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
