Snow, gusty winds and bitter cold will bid farewell to 2016 in Greece, which will welcome the New Year dressed in white.

According to the weather deterioration warning, issued by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), the weather will deteriorate from Wednesday onwards fueled by dense snowfall even in lowland areas, particularly in the eastern parts of the country, gale force winds 8-9 on the Beaufort scale in the seas and a significant drop in temperature.

The director of the National Meteorological Centre, Anthonis Lalos talked about an even worse weather than in the past few weeks.

Snow is expected to fall even in downtown Athens.
