Greece will demand readiness for strong measures against Turkey from the EU, at today’s Foreign Affairs Council, where the issue of the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque will be discussed, as well as Turkish provocations in general.

“There must be an initiative by the EU, UNESCO and the UN on this issue, as it is a global issue and not a Greek-Turkish one,” said Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.

The Greek minister clarified that a framework of sanctions will be requested in case Ankara attempts to violate the sovereign rights of our country.

The Foreign Affairs Council will also discuss Turkey’s involvement in the civil war in Libya, the developments in Syria, and the new immigration agreement with Ankara.
