For the first time in the history of Greek animation, there will be a Greek stand at the biggest and most famous animation festival, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (June 12-17, 2017).

This success is owed to the initiative of ASIFA HELLAS, in collaboration with ASIFA Cyprus, as well as to the corresponding animation festivals in Greece & Cyprus, but also to the additional support of the General Secretariat for Information and Communication, ERT, the Greek Film Centre and the French Institute of Greece.

In the competition section of the festival, the Greek animation community will be represented by two films (Aenigma by A. Dousias and A. Fatourou, and Ethnophobia by G. Ziogas). Meanwhile, seventeen projects or produced films of Greek and Cypriot creators in search of international co-producers will also be presented.

ASIFA HELLAS is known to the general public from the recent initiatives for the 70 Years of Greek animation (1945-2015) and for organizing in Greece the annual celebration of the World Day of Animated Drawings (28/10). The bilingual catalog “70 years of Greek animation”, made possible through a donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is distributed throughout Greece, and will now be part of the Greek presence in Annecy.

The main purpose of ASIFA HELLAS is the promotion of Greek animation and the artistic and commercial activities of the creators and all kinds of stakeholders both in Greece and internationally, using all available means, including social networks.
