Greek islanders continue to protest against the creation of closed migrant housing structures, while local communities are calling for the repeal of the legislative act on land acquisition where new structures will be created.

Today, the residents of the Aegean islands are protesting outside the Ministry of Interior in Athens. For the government, however, what is important and underlines every opportunity, is the decongestion of the islands and the enhancement of security at the borders.

At the same time, the 36 municipalities that carry the majority of the migrant influx, will receive 9,500,000 euros.

However, the North Aegean Region has decided to suspend all cooperation with the government until the repeal of the legislative act on requisition of land on the islands.
