Greek stocks ended significantly higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday, pushing the general index of the market above the 640-point level. The index rose 1.61 pct to end at 644.66 points.

The Lage Cap index rose 2.19 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.13 pct lower. Turnover was a thin 32.901 million euros in volume of 17,654,146 shares. Viohalco (3.56 pct), Coca Cola HBC (3.54 pct) and Terna Energy (3.49 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains among blue chip stocks while Hellenic Exchanges (1.88 pct), ADMIE (1.35 pct) and Motor Oil (1.10 pct) suffered heavy losses.

Among market sectors, Food (3.49 pct), Travel (2.60 pct) and Telecoms (2.42 pct) scored gains while Financial Services (1.88 pct) and Oil (0.79 pct) suffered losses. Alpha Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 53 to 36 with another 31 issues unchanged. Audiovisual (7.84 pct), Iktinos (6.67 pct) and Creta Farm (4.42 pct) were top gainers, while Kiriakoulis (14.91 pct), ANEK (5.08 pct) and Intralot (4.33 pct) were top losers.
