Greek stocks ended flat in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, after a two-day rally which pushed the general index of the market above the 640-point level. Traders said investors preferred to take profits.

The general index ended 0.01 pct down to end at 640.67 points, after rising as much as 1.35 pct early in the day. The Large Cap index rose 0.69 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.53 pct higher. Turnover was 33.735 million euros in volume of 18,786,264 shares.

Coca Cola HBC (4.84 pct), Piraeus Bank (3.13 pct) and Motor Oil (1.47 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Alpha Bank (3.46 pct), Eurobank (1.96 pct) and Jumbo (1.96 pct) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Food (4.81 pct) and Health (0.89 pct) scored gains, while Personal Products (1.75 pct) and Banks (1.66 pct) suffered losses. Eurobank and Piraeus Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 63 to 59 with another 32 issues unchanged. Ilyda (21.65 pct), ANEK (11.61 pct) were top gainers, while Forthnet (16.67 pct) and Progressive (13.18 pct) were top losers.
