Greek stocks ended lower as investors took profits on bank shares in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday. The general index of the market fell 0.64 pct to end at 630.59 points.

The Large Cap index fell 0.59 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.21 pct lower. Turnover was 39.261 million euros in a volume of 26,761,369 shares. OTE (1.96 pct), Piraeus Port (1.82 pct) and Sarantis (1.71 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Eurobank (7.64 pct), National Bank (5.87 pct) and Alpha Bank (4.58 pct) suffered heavy losses. Among market sectors, Health (3.01 pct) and Telecoms (1.96 pct) scored gains, while Banks (5.42 pct) and Oil (1.07 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Eurobank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 45 to 44 with another 33 issues unchanged. Dromeas (6.86 pct) and Iaso (5.09 pct) were top gainers, while Q&R (15.55 pct) and Lazaridis Estate (8.72 pct) were top losers.
