The Greek unemployment rate, for the fourth quarter of 2018, fell to 18.7%, from 21.2% in the same period in 2017. According to ELSTAT’s labor force survey, the number of unemployed people totaled 881,099 and their number decreased by 12.5%, compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year. It is noted that the number of long-term unemployed (seeking work one year or more) amounts to 611,483 people.

Higher unemployment rates are seen in women, 15- to 19-year-olds, in Western Macedonia and in those who have attended up to a few primary classes.
