As in every year, the international theater community honors World Theater Day, which is celebrated on March 27th and is marked by a new message which is read in all theaters before each performance, and is broadcast by the media all over the world.

Written by British actor, writer and director Simon Mc Burney (pictured), the message for Europe makes special reference to the contribution of ancient Athens to the evolution of theater, as well as to the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus.

Greek Minister of Culture, Lydia Koniordou’s, message follows on the same lines, noting how: “Since its inception, the theater has been an institution of Democracy. A way to implement the new form of government, a way just as important as the courts and the parliament, thus creating the three pillars for its development.”

On the occasion of World Theater Day and in collaboration with the “Actor’s House” Foundation, ERT2 organized a marathon aimed at financially supporting the foundation. All through late night programming, alongside extensive references in all news programming on radio and TV, ERT broadcast themed tributes focused on the “Actor’s House” and its initiatives.
