“The reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures is institutionally fair and morally imperative,” said Prokopis Pavlopoulos, as he declared the opening of the International Conference on the reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures that takes place today Monday, April 15, at the Acropolis Museum Amphitheater.

The conference is co-organized by the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the International Union for the Reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures and the Acropolis Museum.

Renowned academics, reputable archaeologists, lawyers, architects and historians, experts and representatives of national commissions for the reunification of the Sculptures, present different approaches to the issue and its course in recent years.

The event’s aim is to summarize the latest developments and evaluate them in order to support the claim through the co-operation of different actors, the enhancement of the positive points and public awareness.

This important meeting contributes decisively to Greece’s legitimate constant claim to the British Museum regarding the return of the sculptures of the most emblematic World Heritage Site and their reunification at the Acropolis Museum.
