Katerine Duska will represent Greece, via ERT’s participation at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Tel Aviv May 14-19.
The ERT task force, bearing in mind the history of the Eurovision Song Contest and the state television’s participation in it, as well as the international aspect of this music audiovisual contest of high standards and competition, the Hellenic Broadcaster unanimously decided in favour of Katerine Duska.
ERT’s task force considers Katerine Duska to be an interpreter with a special sound color that is illustrated by the compositions and verses she herself signs. She also represents a modern musical trend that does not reproduce the mainstream clichés, but it assimilates the influences the different societies in which she grew in and is being distinguished, had on her.
Yorgos Kapoutzidis and Maria Kozakou will comment the two semi-finals and the final Eurovision 2019 night.
Who is Katerine Duska
Katerine Duska is a Greek-Canadian singer/songwriter currently based in Athens. Her acclaimed debut album Embodiment was released in 2016 by Minos EMI/Universal Records and in 2018, her single Fire Away was selected for an official television ad campaign on Canadian tv. Katerine’s musical style channels the dark sonic timbres of Lykke Li and Jessie Ware and her trademark soulful rasp has earned her comparisons to Amy Winehouse.
Katerine rose to indie star status with her hit song One in a Million and her cover of Arctic Monkeys’ Do I Wanna Know which has surpassed 2,000,000 YouTube views. She has since then collaborated and shared the stage with artists like LP, Albin Lee Meldau, Tom Baxter, Yasmine Hamdan, Oddisee, Kadebostany and has performed in prestigious venues and festivals across Europe such as The O2 Academy, Rockwave Festival, SNFCC, Megaron Concert Hall and Sofarsounds/Amnesty International’s global festival Give a Home.
