Alternate Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis sent a message to Turkey that Greece is not complacent and stays vigilant, in an interview with SKAI radio on Thursday.

Asked about the plan for sending Turkish troops to Libya, Mr. Varvitsiotis stressed that Erdogan is playing with fire and that with this move, he will isolate himself further. “The reactions to this neo-Ottoman expansion are strong and they come from everywhere. Erdogan is playing with fire and is provoking reactions, not only from Greece, but also from all players in the international system”, said Mr. Varvitsiotis.

The Alternate Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of the Prime Minister’s visit to the White House on January 7, noting that Greece is bringing to the international attention, the issue of Turkish provocations, aiming to maintain security and stability in the region.
