The Holy Synod of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece, which convened on Friday to discuss the proposed agreement between Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronymos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on changing Church-State relations, was still in session on Friday afternoon. The meeting had started at 09:00 on Friday with Archbishop Ieronymos' speech and continued with the positions of the other senior clerics at the meeting.
During the debate and in the midst of recriminations, Metropolitan of Messinia Chrysostomos walked out. The Metropolitan of Mytilene Iakovos also left early in order to catch a flight.
The meeting was not attended by the Metropolitans of Peristeri Chrysostomos, Kilkisiou Emmanouil and Lemnos Ierotheos due to health reasons.
