The works of the 13th biennial Conference of the Modern Greek Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand were completed a few days ago.
The Conference took place at the Cultural Center of the Greek Community of Melbourne.
The Congress was organized by the Greek Studies Program of La Trobe University, Australia in memory of its benefactor Anastassios Vassilogiannis, who left in his will an annual income to support Greek Studies and research for the benefit of Greek students.
The main theme of the conference was “Modern Greek Studies at the Crossroads: Language, Culture and Pedagogy in an Age of Disruption and Innovation”. It focused on aspects of the present circumstances and recent past of Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Diaspora, the Conference will be especially concerned with their potential to attract the interest of Australian students and researchers and to secure the future of the discipline in Australian institutions.
