Culture Minister Myrsini Zorba, in a statement to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station, expressed her deep sorrow for the catastrophe at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. She also stressed that Greece will support the effort to restore Paris’ Cathedral.
“When we see a monument destroyed in front of our eyes, a historic monument for Paris, we feel like we are losing something out of our lives. The life of the monuments is linked with the life and the history of a place, “Mrs. Zorba said.
She also stressed the importance of being on guard regarding the protection of Greece’s own monuments. “The feeling that something may suddenly happen to a monument must make us understand the importance of better planning for the protection of the monuments,” she said.
