The Parliament’s Conference of Presidents will convene at 15:00 on Thursday, in its sixth attempt to constitute the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRT).

New Democracy demands that the provision on only four broadcasting licences as well as Article 2A, which stripped the Council off its powers, be repealed, and that the Council be staffed with persons having a high status. On the other hand, the government calls the opposition to fulfill its constitutional duty.

According to a poll conducted by Alco, the majority of Greek citizens wish for a consensus on the NCRT issue, while 73% believe that New Democracy should consent to NCRT’s constitution.
