At a press conference, Labor Minister Ms. Effie Achtsioglou presented a series of new measures to combat unemployment, focusing on three axes: welfare projects for the long-term unemployed, hiring unemployed people in the private sector and training programs for the unemployed.

“Our planning includes the announcement of 11 new projects by the first quarter of 2019, with a total budget of 632,500,000 euros, targeting 88,500 unemployed persons” stated the Minister, who also said that more than 300,000 jobs were created by the current government, with unemployment rising to 19 % in the second quarter of the year, down by about 7% over the past three years.
