The two Greek military officers will remain in the prisons of Edirne, as the third request for their release was rejected on Tuesday. The request, which was filed by their lawyers within the scope of the right to review their custody every month, was rejected by the Turkish judges on the reasoning that the facts which determined their custody have not changed.
In the hearing, the lawyers of the military officers explained once more that their clients entered the Turkish territory by mistake. On their part, the judicial authorities concluded that the military officers do not have permanent residence in Turkey and could thus escape. The two military officers have been kept in maximum-security prisons in Edirne since March 2.
