An exhibition entitled “Our Odyssey: Ithacans in Melbourne” is organised by the Melbourne Immigration Museum.

The exhibition presents not only objects, textiles, photographs and historical relics representing the achievements of Ithacans in Melbourne but also illustrates some challenges they encountered during the adjustment period in the new chosen home.

It also offers a chance to explore the challenges faced by Ithacan migrants establishing roots in a new country, and celebrate the achievements of a community who continue to enrich the Melbourne of today.

With an ancient history grounded in Greek mythology, this exhibition draws parallels between the epic tale of The Odyssey as it relates to the migrant experience.

Our Odyssey: Ithacans in Melbourne has been developed in collaboration with the Ithacan community and coincides with the 100 year anniversary of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society.

The exhibition will be running from November 19, 2016 until June 4, 2017.
