The Greek Parliament has passed by overall majority the government amendment on the minimum wage. Labor Minister Efi Achtsioglou spoke of a significant step in fulfilling the top commitment of the government towards the large social majority, and stressed that the single increased minimum wage will be voted in January 2019.

Mrs. Achtsioglou also underlined that already a few days after the clear exit from the bailout program, seven sectoral agreements applying to around 200,000 salaried employees throughout the country have been expanded, leading to an immediate increase of wages.

The Minister added that from now on, the government will prove every day that the exit from the memorandum was not a symbolic action, but a shift to an era of recovery of rights for the large social majority.
