New Democracy conservative party’s proposal on the constitution of an inquiry committee aiming to investigate the circumstances that led to the 3rd memorandum signing by the Greek administration, has been rejected by the Greek parliament with 155 votes against to 96 votes in favour. The proposal did not gather the required number of 120 votes.

Discussion reached high tones with the opposition block parties blaming the government of SYRIZA-ANEL coalition for the financial policy implemented thus far, accusing them of being a “pro-memorandum”.

The leader of the opposition Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that the Greek prime minister wishes to avoid this inquiry and announced that even if the proposal was rejected it will be reintroduced and voted for “in the next parliamentary session.”
