From June 24-28, photographer Vasilis Nikas exhibits his work entitled “The Children of Ritsona”. The exhibition, to be held at the architecturally and historically charged venue of the Thebes Old Asia Minor Settlement, is jointly organized by the “Thebes Association of Asia Minor”, the “‘Bridges’ Humanitarian Initiative “, the “9th Photographic”, “Photologio.gr” and “Greek Instagram Events”.

The exhibition is the result of the effort to creatively represent children’s lives in the refugee accommodation unit in Ritsona, Evia, where the photographer lived and worked for more than 14 months.

In addition to the exhibition, the documentary “In The Eyes of Children”, directed to this end by Fuyuko Mochizuki, will be screened. The documentary competes in the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Competition finals, as well as featuring in New York’s Long Island International Film Festival and Tokyo’s Lift-Off Film Festival.

On June 24 and 25, the ERT-produced 2016 documentary “Not Going Back,” directed by Flora Prisimintzis, will be screened. The documentary depicts a “journey” from present-day Syria, to 1922 and the Asia Minor Catastrophe. It has won the top prize for Best Documentary at the 10th London Greek Film Festival (LGFF 2017).
