“Austerity is coming to an end and we are entering a new era”, stressed Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at the Parliament, at the “Hour of the Prime Minister”, following a question by President of Union of Centrists Vasilis Leventis regarding the outcome of the recent Eurogroup meeting. “The government stance ‘not a single euro of additional austerity’ was respected by all sides”, he added.

PM Tsipras also stressed that last Monday all sides seemed willing to overcome austerity and focus on a change in the policy mix that Greece should apply. Following the agreement in principle, in the Eurogroup meeting, Institutions are returning to promptly conclude the agreement on a technical level, he added. On his part, Mr. Leventis underlined that the “counter-measures” promised by the government are not a guarantee for citizens, who will be damaged by the agreement.
