Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will attend the UN Intergovernmental Conference held in Marrakesh on Monday, which will adopt the Global Compact for Migration. The non-binding UN Compact includes principles (protection of human rights and children, recognition of national sovereignty) and a number of proposals for tackling migration flows. More than 100 countries are expected to adopt the Compact in Marrakesh, while the UN General Assembly will vote on the Compact in New York on December 19th.

On the occasion of the Conference, Mr. Tsipras will meet with the President of the UN General Assembly, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, and with the Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Gilles Carbonnier, among others.
