The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited today the Military Outpost 1 in Kastanies, Evros, from where she delivered her message for Easter.
“I am here today to pay tribute to the guards of our borders and to our Armed forces that, under very difficult conditions, are defending the security of Greece and Europe. On a different front and frontier, that which separates life from death, we are all fighting to the extent that we can. I’m not just talking about front-line fighters, doctors, nurses, our fellow citizens who provide services and whom we respect and thank from the bottom of our hearts. I am referring to all the Greeks, wherever they are, who spend Easter alone, away from their loved ones, friends, or home.
This year we are living through the most difficult Easter in our recent history, but also the most spiritual and inward. That is why we do not regret it. We endure and we persevere. And I wish, in a year from now, that we are all here to celebrate this great celebration of Christianity in the traditional, cheerful way, in a Greece that is free from fear, a homeland that will walk fearlessly on the path of progress, advancement and optimism”.
