During his interview on Antenna (ANT1) TV’s main newscast, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras once again clarified that national elections would take place on time, October 2019, thus, sending the message that the country has returned to normality. At the same time, the Greek Prime Minister stressed that there is no question of reducing the income tax-free threshold, as long as SYRIZA is in power.

Regarding the Prespes Agreement, Mr. Tsipras said that at no time did he think about the political cost, since the opportunity came up after 30 years, to resolve a dispute that had cost the country but which now offers advantages.

He also added that due to the responsibility of the political forces in the past, Greece lived in a collective illusion, since no one said FYROM but Skopje and Skopjans, while the national line that existed since 2004 has now been implemented.

The Prime minister particularly mentioned Greek economy’s positive growth rate and described the decision for early repayment of the IMF loan as a very important development, the second most important one, following the country’s exit from the programs in August 2018, as it creates a fiscal space for social policy.
