Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented the government’s program “No Child Alone” that aims to protect unaccompanied children who arrive to our country through refugee-migration flows and live in abject conditions.
In his public address, the Prime Minister said that there is a wound of the migrant crisis that we can heal immediately by ourselves as our civilisation, our humanity, our sensitivity and tradition, dictates that we do so.
Mr. Mitsotakis said there would be co-operation with the EU and international organizations, NGOs and other parties interested in rapidly establishing accommodation structures for the 4,000 children who have been hitherto unaccompanied and living in abject conditions.
Each facility will accommodate a small number of minors and will cover children’s needs for housing, food, education, access to pharmaco-medical care and psychological support. It will also provide legal services to children who have relatives in other European countries and who want to reunite with their family.
