During his meeting with UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, that took place in Geneva on Monday, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias presented Greece’s positions regarding the agreements Turkey and Libya have signed.

Mr. Dendias outlined the reasons why Greece considers them non-existent, as they were signed by a government that had no such authorization under the Skhirat Agreement, that governs the existence and international representation of Libya at this time.

Mr. Dendias also outlined the dangers on the region, posed by Turkish views that are contrary to the maritime law. For his part, the UN secretary-general said he would refer the matter to the international legal services to get their own input.
