The Russian Foreign Ministry sent a diplomatic note on Monday, to the Greek ambassador in Moscow, Andreas Friganas in response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats last July.

In an official statement, the Russian ministry mentions that the Greek ambassador of the Hellenic Republic in the Russian Federation has received a diplomatic note informing him of the countermeasures taken by the Russian side, in response to the actions Athens took last July regarding Russian diplomats and citizens.

According to the Sputnik news agency, the Russian authorities will expel the trade representative and the Press Office director of the Greek embassy in Moscow and will ban entry to Russia to the director of the Political Bureau of the Greek Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Last July, the Greek Foreign Ministry expelled two Russian diplomats and banned two others from entering its territory, following evidence of attempts to collect and disseminate sensitive information and to interfere in foreign Greek politics.
