As announced by the Prime Minister’s press office, the interstate agreement on the creation of the East Med pipeline will be signed in Athens, on January 2, by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades. The deal will be finalized with Italy’s signature at a subsequent date.

The agreement is considered particularly important in geopolitical terms as it defines jurisdictions, control and licensing rights in the Eastern Mediterranean.
