Washington has embraced European concerns about Turkey’s illegal drilling in the Republic of Cyprus EEZ, declared US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Orgagus, saying that Ankara’s allegations have raised “deep concerns” in Washington.

Ms. Orgagus reiterated that back on July 9th the US foreign ministry had issued a communiqué in which it had condemned for the second time Turkey’s actions and she said that “similarly to the Europeans, we have expressed our deep concerns over Turkey’s assertions that it will continue to drill in these waters off of Cyprus”.

At this juncture, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendia’s visit to the US and his meeting with his US counterpart, Mike Pompeo which will take place today, is of particular interest. The meeting’s agenda will focus on on bilateral, regional and international affairs.

The Greek Foreign Minister will also meet with the US National Security Advisor, John Bolton.
