The General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and the Confederation of Greek Civil Servants’ Trade Unions (ADEDY) have announced a 24-hour Pan-Hellenic strike for Thursday, December 14. A demonstration is planned for 11 a.m. at Klafthmonos Square, while the trade union front PAME is planning a demonstration at Omonoia Square at 10.30 a.m. Workers demand, among others, an immediate restructuring of the budget for 2018, to prevent the dramatic cuts of social rights and the imposition of new taxes, as well as a free trade union action without state and employers’ intervention in exercising the workers’ collective rights, the main demands being the right to free collective bargaining and the right to strikes.

Farmers are also planning to demonstrate, as the Pan-Hellenic Committee for Blockades has called farmers to participate in the workers’ strikes.
