Sunlight Systems is expected to restart operations of its submarine battery production unit in Xanthi within the month and of its industrial battery unit in October, after a fire that broke in May 1, 2018 led to the temporary halt of operations in both units, the company said on Thursday.

The industrial battery unit is the most significant revenue source of the company and it is expected to restart at 30 pct of its production capacity, rising steadily to 50 pct by the end of the year and to return to full capacity in the first half of 2019.

Sunlight Systems said that turnover from continuing operations totaled 76 million euros in the first half of 2018, from 95.6 million last year, while parent turnover from continuing operations fell to 89.6 million euros from 109.2 million in 2017. EBITDA were -27.2 million euros in the January-June period, from 13 million in 2017, while parent EBITDA was -26.7 million from 12.2 million respectively.
