Athens’ agreement with creditors on the reforms, as well as the next steps in Greece’s bailout program will be discussed in an extraordinary meeting of the EuroWorking Group on Thursday.

Government spokesperson Dimitris Tzanakopoulos spoke of a sustainable and balanced preliminary agreement, and stressed that both the government and the Prime Minister are seeking a debt settlement. Despite IMF’s initial request, the government managed to reach an agreement with no fiscal impact, added Mr. Tzanakopoulos. On his part, IMF’s European Department Director Poul Thomsen stated, “The staff level agreement on the reforms should go hand in hand with a credible strategy on how to restore debt sustainability”.
