The first phase of the constitutional review process, which will take place in the next Revisory Parliament, is being concluded today at the House.
Parliament is called upon to make its final decision and determine what provisions of the Charter of the Hellenic Republic will ultimately be referred for revision in the next Revisory Parliament.
An important point of friction between SYRIZA and ND is expected to be the interpretation of Article 110 on the binding or not binding of the next Parliament by the actual one, as to the direction and content of the revised provisions.
SYRIZA had insisted that the present House binds the next one, regarding the direction and content of the provisions under review, a point which ND explicitly rejects, arguing exactly the opposite.
MEPs will vote on the 32 proposals of the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, four of the ND Parliamentary Group, as well as seven proposals from individual Members.
