At a meeting that took place on Sunday in Nikaia, Larissa, the farmers’ representatives coming from 17 points in Greece where roadblocks have been set up from Crete to northern Greece, have decided to step up the mobilizations, while they have requested a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, or with the Deputy Prime Minister Yannis Dragasakis, and not just with the Minister of Rural Development, Stavros Arachovitis.

At the same time, protesting farmers are calling on the rest of their colleagues to join in the mobilizations and reinforce the roadblocks with new tractors.

The production costs, the low prices their crops yield, the high oil prices, and other issues related to insurance and tax framework are among farmers’ demands.
